Prevent Diabetes was founded in 2026 by husband and wife team Cara and Oliver, to make personalised dietary support easier to get for people diagnosed with prediabetes. We also support adults with a BMI over 26 who want help with weight management. We founded Prevent Diabetes to offer personalised, one to one dietary guidance for people who want it, online and at their own pace.
We understand that knowing where to start after a prediabetes diagnosis can feel overwhelming. Our online service provides personalised dietary guidance in a convenient and accessible way, helping you identify practical changes that fit your lifestyle and support your long term health.
Once we receive your completed online questionnaire, we aim to deliver your personalised assessment within 10 working days. Every assessment is reviewed personally by Cara Sommariva-Nagle, a Registered Dietitian, ensuring that the advice is tailored to your individual circumstances.
Whilst Cara brings her clinical expertise and healthcare experience, Oliver brings his experience in project delivery and operational management. Together, we combine clinical knowledge with a structured, practical approach to running Prevent Diabetes, with the aim of making personalised prediabetes support accessible, professional and straightforward to use.
Prevent Diabetes was co-founded by Cara Sommariva-Nagle, a Specialist Dietitian with extensive NHS experience supporting adults with a wide range of nutritional and health conditions.
Cara holds degrees in Dietetics and Biological Science and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA).
Every assessment is personally reviewed by Cara, ensuring each evaluation is thorough and informed by professional clinical standards.
Cara has contributed to peer-reviewed research in nutrition and dietetics. She was a co-author of a 2019 study published in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, investigating tube blockage and microbial risks associated with a blended enteral feed recipe. Prevent Diabetes is an independent private dietetic service. While Cara also works within the NHS, this service operates entirely independently and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NHS.
Our mission is to help people take positive steps towards better health by providing trusted, practical nutritional advice that is accessible, convenient and personalised.
